Dementia Awareness Day 2024

We’re delighted to announce that Dementia Awareness Day, in association with Home Instead and Heron Hill Care Home, will be back at Beetham Nurseries for 2024!

Dementia affects so many people, one in 14 people over the age of 65 have dementia and these numbers are increasing sharply. Often people don’t know where to go for support and that’s where Home Instead can help.

Join Home Instead here at Beetham Nurseries on Wednesday 18th September from 9.30am where you can experience the life changing virtual dementia tour and learn what help is available in the community — from how to get a diagnosis to funding options and support groups.

Virtual Dementia Tour

The virtual dementia tour is the only scientifically and medically proven method of giving a person with a healthy brain the experience of what dementia might be like.

It has changed the lives of so many people caring for loved ones with dementia, enabling them to give better support as they gain a better understanding of the disease.

Our Dementia Awarenesss Day was really busy last year, so we would advise booking ahead on the Dementia Bus, so we can guarantee a slot for you!

HARRI Bus

The HARRI bus will also be attending with FREE health checks, and to promote physical and mental health services.

Members of the Integrated Care Teams will also be joining us to help with information and to do blood pressure checks.

Home Instead Choir

The Home Instead Choir will also be singing with children from local primary schools.

Their songlist of nostalgic tunes, with a mix of wartime and mid-20th-century popular music, can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

Support Groups 

Home Instead and Heron Hill Care Home will be here at Beetham Nurseries along with support groups such as our Charity Partner, Carer Support South Lakes.

You can expect free information packs with lots of useful resources, pop along throughout the day to have a chat with the team.
